American born artist Lisa Beth Older is an abstract painter. She’s an established freelance artist exhibiting predominantly in the US, where she lives and works out of her studio in Chelsea, New York.
“My art of bending and blending paint is a reflection of the complexity of our society and the times we live in today. We live in a “texturized” society with a cross blend of cultures, buildings, food, technologies, creative energy and expressions – a sensory overload”, said Older. LBO’s fearlessness with colors has been compared with Willem De Kooning and it’s been said that her energy is reminiscent of Jackson Pollock.
LBO calls her technique “bending and blending” paint. She begins her technique by blending a wide array of different colors. She then bends the paint by digging into the paint with a brush, Butcher Knife or other object, to get texture. The bend has to come out just right because it can’t be reworked.
LBO then lets the paint dry slightly and then she layers, maneuvers, manipulates, bends and stretches the paint into unworldly shapes. She describes the results as imaginative, indulgent, sensual, emotional, energetic, quite three dimensional and esoteric.
Lisa Beth Older’s artwork can be found in the American Museum of Natural History’s Department of Astrophysics. It can also be found in the lobby of the historic old American Express building at 65 Broadway in the Wall Street district of Manhattan. Other notable collections/collectors: Donald and Melania Trump, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
